I was recently given a tool box that belonged to a friend who has passed away. I am honored to have some of his things.

I do not know what this tool is or what is is used for. I am confident the knowledge base here can help identify it.
Thanks
Bob

Agree, it's a manual saw setter.

It will bend the teeth os a saw blade or and saw just a bit in order to make it cut a bit wider than the blade. You need to set every other tooth then flip the blade around and do the remaining teeth in the opposite direction.

If a saw is not set or not set enough, it'll bind up when it cuts
.

So if the teeth are not offset, is it off set?
