Everything I touch seems to be missing as soon as I put it down.

Not any particular tool, just the one that is absolutely crucial to finish what I am working on.

I nominate 'pocket' screwdriver as misnomer of the century. Never have I found one in a pocket.
Folding rulers, tape measures and pencils are also known to walk off together.

You know what gets me, all these guys who buy carts & then procede to fill the whole top with all their stuff. Where do they put the tools that they are currently using? I work out of a cart & hardly ever lose tools.

Tape measures.

I own over 20 and still can't find one when I need one!!!!

Tape measures for sure!

Im not a carpenter.... I do general auto repair and light metal fabrication. Like Jamie said, I have over 20 tape measures too..... none can be found when I need one! I even buy them (Stanley) two at a time fairly often.... still cant find one. :lol_hitti

pencil/marker when you need it

For me its the damn 12mm or 14mm the less used socket that I can never find at an arms reach away. Since GJ I purchased a single 10mm Snap-On mid-length impact and a full set of 10-19 mid length impacts, and a short 10-22 MATCO impact set. Not to mention all the sockets I previously own. I'm pretty good 10mm's they are on every work surface within an arms reach.

#1 My Mind as mentioned by a few above.
#2 Tape measures
#3 Sharpies
#4 My Beer

On 2 & 3??? Do the Sharpies hide the Tape Measures or do the Tape Measure Hide the Sharpies?

10mm 13mm and I only can't find a 15mm when someone needs me to change their bike tube. Screwdrivers are never there when I need them. There's got to be 40 barely used sharpies somewhere. If only I could find my needlenose pliers. Or the right Allen wrench

I've made it a habit to return wrenches/sockets back to their "spot" before grabbing another one. Similar to a tool chit in a real place. It helps me keep up with them and more importantly not to lose them. I work on 80s junk cars because it's what I like and drive. I find several screwdrivers/sockets/etc under the air filter/around manifolds where people are working on it and then forget/lose a tool.
