I have a genie garage door opener. It will bring the door all the way up. But when its time to go down, it goes about 8" then back to the top. I've disconnected the sensors thinking thats what that was. If you hold the sensor that tells it that its gone up far enough, and push the button for it to go down... it will go down. If you hold the garage door opener button down... it will go down, but not a momentary one push. anyone have any ideas?!:headscrat

I would check into exactly what logical said and also the guide cable to see if it didn't slide off it's track.

It's your photo eyes. If you can hold the wall button down it overrides the sensors. You can't just unhook the sensors to get it to work. There should be a steady red light on one sensor and a steady green light on the other, if the red one is flashing there is something wrong with it or it's out of align.

On another note of the springs were broken it would have no problems going down it just wouldn't come up.

Yea, i got it fixed. I just cleaned the eyes (been doing some texturing) and plugged them all back in, reset the opener, reset my "intelli"codes and ****! it works! I'm :shocking: right now!
