The vise isn't the problem. Just a distraction and Just got it and thought it was cool.

I know absolutely zero about license plates, but isn't the plate in the picture in the American format, but shouldn't a genuine plate from Italy be in some other (European) format? (As relates to physical size, dimensions, etc.)

That's it. It's an American plate from Italy.... Imported from China.

The license plate is the wrong color. It should be black with white lettering. ALthough in 1927, the plate was white and should have had red lettering. The plate is wrong in a number of ways.
