what is your favorite hook and pick set?

I personally have only used the mastercraft picks and the Mac tools hard handled mini pick set. The Mac set is by far my favorite so far, what is yours?

I have the same Mac set plus a Snap on set to match it. They work equally well, they've come in handy MANY times.

Other brands like Kobalt don't hold up, but I have head that the Craftsman set is quite good.

i have a "heavy duty" right angle led lighted pick i got off the matco truck...wish my ******* woulda bought the whole set instead of just the one...

I like the Pratt-Read pick sets, as they're good quality, low-priced and USA made. You can buy them on Amazon for pretty cheap, or you can get them relabeled under the Masterforce brand sold at Menards.

I have both the Pratt-Read and Masterforce versions. They're a big step up over the HF version I also have.

I never had a need for these tools...or did I? I suspect there were jobs I did that would have been easier, so on on a whim when at Princess Auto recently I picked up this set.

If they become important tools as the jobs I do at home change, I'll opt for a better set.

Now I'll brew a pot of coffee and spend an hour scouring Google and GJ to see how these get used, and how my life would have been easier all along

I have Williams, Masterforce, Gearwrench, HF, several different models of Craftsman.
I like the gearwrench, their handles are bigger, except during use, I pulled the shank out of the handle.

I have a few of the 99 cent HF sets that actually work quite well. I mostly use them as scrapers though... scraped a ton of grout with some and they are still in great shape.

I use a pick to remove o-rings from fuel injectors, oil filter housing (on German cars), etc. I have a Craftsman set so by default they are my favorite.

I like the old USA made (KD?) ones they have/had at NAPA; my NAPA got rid of them when they switched to Carlisle and got new inventory. I bought an extra pack at 10 or 11 bucks before they disappeared. They're extra long and have slim hexagonally shaped handles, same size as a pencil. With those, I can grip them like a pencil for better dexterity, and the size allows for better clearance and maneuverability in really tight spots.

For my applications, those big handles on picks defeat the purpose. I bought a set of Snap-Ons one time, but I rarely use them. They're better suited to pulling or pushing than my old Napa sets.

The HF set ain't much to look at, but I have them at home. I haven't broken one in the 3 or so years of use...

I use a General tools 80 double sided pick as a goto, one side is straight and the other end is a 90 degree, very good steel, can be had for about 5$, I have a small set the rarely gets used. I have had the blue point version but the general is better in everyway.

I picked up a Snap-On pick today and the quality is good but I'm not sure if its that much better than my Craftsman set. I think I paid $6.99 for the Craftsman set and it's US made.

Sears still has a set of picks made by Ullman devices that's USA made.

But, the short mini-pick set is no longer USA made. This is the style of pick I prefer. I went with the Pratt-Read picks instead, since they're still USA made.
