What jack stands you use with Maxjax

What jack stands are you guys using with your Maxjax? I think I would feel safer with a couple jack stands but doesn't seem to be a big market for 36-48" jack stands. Or do you work under them without and safety measures?

The whole point in spending thousands of dollars on a lift is so that you don't have to screw with jack stands any more.

I don't use anything with mine. I just had my car up there for about 3 weeks while I rebuilt the entire suspension. No problems.

my friend has those 2 ton tripod ones ^^^. I feel a lot safer under a lift with jackstands.

They're for extra stability if you're really going at it or if you're removing an engine/trans/axles and the weight is going to shift significantly. Those OTC style ones are good if you have to hold up an exhaust or diff housing or something, works as an extra set of hands.

Try putting a quad-cab truck with a full sized bed on your lift. My lift is totally stable with my Mustang, but with a truck, I use the high-lift stands to stabilize it end to end.

My max Jax is fine for a Honda Civic but as mentioned above a full size truck gets squirrelly. Even when I had a full sized 2 post Nussbaum, I wished for jack stands just to stabilize it.

Well, having tall jack stands for stability is TOTALLY different than just getting jack stands because you don't feel safe. I mean, I had my car up in the air (with no engine/transmission in it) and then dropped the whole rear subframe/diff/axles/trailing arms. Pretty significant shift in weight, so I could have seen having jack stands under there just in case it started tilting....

But for the majority of the work I do I don't feel the need for it. And I wouldn't really put a full size truck with with my max jax, personally. First of all, my truck is too long for my garage, but it's also REALLY close to the rated load limit. The max jax is fine, but in my opinion the design of it doesn't inspire THAT much confidence to me.

I have those gregsmith exact stands......I just assembled them and I can't figure out something with the screw in top extensions....There are 2 large washers and a ball bearing washer piece but they do not lock in place at all and there is no other pieces in the shipping box....I was hoping someone could give me some explain on assembling these.... The directions stink...thanks so much!

If you're using stands to stabilize it they don't need to hold the truck up. When I lift trucks I put one under the hitch at shoulder height or under the diff at full height just to keep it from rocking

Thanks a lot...does that lock them in place some kind of way or are they just loose?

Thank you!....I was wondering why it would stay loose and why it would be designed like that...your feedback is very much appreciated
