I built these boxes, now I need to attached the doors. What would be the best style hinge? The doors will be 1'x4' plywood (same material as the boxes).

The boxes are 4' wide. I will put a stile in the center and make 2 x 1' doors on each side.

Do I need to get frameless cabinet hinges?

The frame of each box is made out of 1 inch plywood?

You need to decide what type of door you want obliviously then decide on the hinge. Keep in mind that you still will need clearance between the doors that will have the twin overlay.

It might be beneficial to frame out each cabinet and then you could do an overlay type of a door.

Since you've recessed the middle shelves, you can go with an inset door. Plain **** hinges will work, but the Euro style, like Blum, are hidden and make for a bit neater look. Using inset doors will help keep the overall depth of the cabinet less.

If you are not committed to a particular style of door, you might consider checking out a ReStore. These often cabinet hinges and pulls for very little coin, although what they have available might drive what style door you build. They also sometimes have some real finds on lumber, and cabinet parts.

Thank you for the replies. I think I will go with the full overlay. I have plywood for the doors. Not sure how they will hold up over time. I think I used 3/4". May throw some strips on the inside of them to help prevent warping.

I think you may find it easier to take some 1x2 material and frame out the boxes and use modified overlay hinges for the doors.

If you do put strips (battens) on the inside of the doors, screw them on only, no glue. Glueing them on will encourage warping. Screws only allow a bit of movement.
