What kind of socket is this?

I picked up this Craftsman socket set at a garage sale not even realizing it is not a normal set. I’ve never seen one like this. They are closed on the end. What is it and do I need a special wrench/ratchet for it?

I’m assuming you mean like a gearwrench ratcheting wrench? The ends are all different sizes though. I’ve seen pass through socket sets that grab from the outside but they all fit the same wrench. What would be the advantage of using this with a ratcheting wrench? Also the ball detents are built into the sockets.

The best I can come up with is that is a very “Special” socket. Perhaps the “bolt” has to pass through the socket as at the same time it is being turned by the lever which could be a ratcheting wrench.
