I would like to nail down 1/2 inch plywood over the floor in my garage loft. The loft sub floor is 3/4 inch 4x8 sheets LP top notch and is secure. Just wondering what length nail I should be using to secure the 1/2 plywood to it. Since the sub is solid do I just want to nail into that, and not hit the floor joists? I am going rip the plywood into planks, stain, install, and then cover with a nice high traffic floor finish.
I was thinking about using steel cut flooring nails for a more rustic wood shop floor look. The Tremont Nail Co has a wide variety to choose from and 1 1/2 inch seems to be the shortest for flooring nails.
