Installing a new reznor UDAS this weekend and wondering what features to look for in a tstat..... would like programmable, with capability to add a air conditioning unit next year.

Wifi would be nice but not for $200.00

What should I be looking for?

Thanks

You can get a quality Wifi stat in the $125 range, look at Sensi as an example. Also, many utilities are offering rebates on smart stats, don't know where you are located but in MO you can get a $100 rebate on one.

Just saying, would'nt rule out Wifi because of price, as your $200 comment is not accurate.

Honeywell Wi-Fi 7-Day Programmable Thermostat (RTH6580WF) $75 from amazon I highly recommend them unless the area is going to be under 40F then you are going to need a mechanical as every digital T-Stat either will not set below 40 or has issues when it get s below freezing.

Second this. I got about $110 in rebates for a 3rd gen Nest thermostat, which I bought used for $140. Couldn't figure out how to turn it on at first, so they ended up sending me a replacement. Bottom line, got a brand new Nest for $30. Check with your energy company and see if they offer any rebates, and check craigslist for used. I really like the Nest thermostats, and I've also heard Ecobee has some good ones.

We used a Filtrete $99 wifi unit for several years, no problems. It also tracked run time usage which was nice. When we changed out to a heat pump, the Filtrete didn't work well with the heat side of the new unit and we bought a Honeywell wifi unit to replace it. No history data usage and the wifi unit didn't last a year. The touch screen is typically unresponsive and needs a couple or three jabs to light up. YMMV as they say.

If I was going to buy one for the house, I'd go Ecobee not Nest since we now have an Echo in the house. For the shop I'd go with another Filtrete.
