I'm installing a new 50A outlet in my shop in an existing box. The box is the metal square type with a screw in 2 of the corners. What do I need to add to this box to make the 50A outlet screw in? I thought a standard mud ring is what I needed, but the 50A outlet won't fit in that. Do they have bigger mud rings?

You'll be needing an industrial cover with the appropriate sized hole for the receptical.

As mtne said - an Industrial cover or what is also commonly known as a "raised cover".

I think that particular receptacle will also fit in a double switch box. This is a metal box with ears for mounting the switches, but no ears in the corners. Requires a standard cover plate.

This next one is for a 4-11/16 box and may require you to break away the top and bottom tabs and use the cover screw holes close to the round face to mount the receptacle.

This next one is for a 4 inch box but only has two screws mounting the receptacle, not a strong attachment. Also requires you break off the top and bottom tabs, rendering the receptacle useless for certain other kinds of mounting.

This is basically a flat version of a mud ring for device mounting, but the receptacle should attach into it. Again, the issue is only two screws holding the device to the box in the corners.

Cover plate for your receptacle.
