Wondering what pic host everyone is using? I was going to post my shop build, but ive only used photobucket in the past. And now with their 3rd party hosting limits.. I don't want to go to all the trouble of posting a ton of pics, that cant be seen. thanks.

I host mine here now, I know we are limited to 1000 pics or something like that but for now it is working for me and I do not have to worry about what a third party site like PB does.

Ive switched to Fliker.

How do you host here?

There are 2 ways to add pictures

#1
Upload the picture to The Garage Journal

1 First you need to go to the Advanced section of your post, Just click Go Advanced

then you will see this
7ezp5yP.jpg

2 Then click on Manage Attachments in the Additional Options section at the botom

This Window will open
U0LMyRj.jpg

3 Click Choose File and navigate to your picture on your computer, then click Upload and it will add it to your post.

#2
The other way is to use a image hosting site to upload the picture to

I use http://imgur.com/

If you go there you can make an account to keep all your pictures
There you can Click upload pictures and it will give you links to put in your post, you will use the BBcode link.

Third way is to create an album in your user cp and link from there. This is best as they don't get lost when your photo bucket, or other account, goes away.

Concerning the imgur reference above - you may want to read the thread the above was cut from.

GJ was not be able to handle bigger pictures, now that it can, I say it is viable to use.

It actually doesn't work great, as the photos only show up in the bottom of your post in a thumbnail.

Embedding linked images works a lot better as you can place an image, write some text about the image, place another image, add more text, etc. It makes reading a post a lot more enjoyable.

It works great if you create an album here onsite and use the BB code to put pictures in your posts. If you upload as an attachment to a post then you get the thumbnails. Even the thumbs can be enlarged into the body of the message.

Well lets see if I can do it. It's not my normal way.

attachment.php

Looks good?

On edit; So what I did was manage attachments, upload the pict, then copy the pict address from where it shows attachments, use the picture icon above and post it into there. Both the thumb and embedded show.

edit 2 I still prefer to make albums because it's easier to find a picture later and use it in another post. Albums are also available for the members to look at where as the thumb attachments are not view-able out side of the post they are in.

Thanks Larry.

You're linking from an album you have here on GJ, right?

Not in the post above. I did that with up loading a picture into the post and then copying the attachment address into the picture icon. Most of the time I do load into an album first. Another advantage to an album is that you can click my name and see what I have in my albums. Not everything in albums appear in any post.

I use www.imageshack.com it's $18 a year with the first month free. Unlimited up loads and very easy to use. A drag and drop image transfer will take about 3 seconds to complete. You can also specify the size image you want to post. I use 600X800. Also, no adds and no popups.
