I have this 12-gallon Craftsman air compressor and am going to sell it. It hasn't been used much and always stored in the garage, taking up valuable space. I want to get a band saw so room has to be made. Everything works, holds full air overnight. What do you think it's worth, how much would you expect to pay for it on Craigslist in your area? Looking at compressors in my area it seems $200 would be a good deal.

That exact compressor is on offerup local to me. Ad shows listed 2 months ago for $150, now reduced to $100. Not quite as clean, but it appears to have been well stored.

Problem is there's about 50 other 10-15gal compressors littering offerup and Craigslist as well. A guy has his pick for $60-100
Or for $200 you can buy a brand new makita MAC 700 that's more portable, and puts out almost 1cfm more air than yours at 90psi, and 0.1cfm at 40psi, albeit with a smaller reserve.
But that's the problem, a 12gal doesn't do a whole lot. Slow to fill, not large enough to run most air tools, but still eats up a ton of space.

That being said, yours is very clean and has a better pump than many of the newest ones.
If you don't get hits at $200 you can always go lower. I'd probably start at $150.

I'm a bargain shopper. I wouldn't pay $200 for that. The older HF 21 gallon models cost about that new. Some quiet models in the 8 gallon range are about the same price new.

You can certainly ask but I wouldn't be surprised if you have to drop it to $100 to get a sale.

Couple of bigger ones, 15-33 gal, listed @ $50-280 on CL here, Bay Area. These are all uprights, of similar vintage to yours.

Thanks for the feed. Looking at whats for sale locally I thought I was pricing it right, however I've noticed the same ones keep showing up week after week. Asking isn't the same as getting! I'll lower the price.

Small air compressors seem like a tough sell. New there are a lot of fairly cheap ones to choose from, and a lot of people are wary of buying one used. That looks like it is in good shape, and people like the Craftsman name but you can go to Home Depot, Lowes or Tractor Supply and buy a 20 gallon for under $300.

Agree with the start at $150 and see where it goes, but you may find that you have to come down to $100 or even $50.

I've ended up with several small compressors from 2 up to 8 or 10 gallons. Seems like to much trouble to sell them, so I've just stashed them around the house where they are out of the way and may occasionally be handy.
