I am a professional mechanic and looking to get a scan tool for my self. I work in a smaller shop that has only one professional scan tool. Most of the time it's not an issue since there's only 2 techs but sometimes we both need it all day. So I just wanted some suggestion on what you all use. I'd like to stay at or below $1000. Our current tool is an Autel 908 elite that work great. I've been looking at the Autel 905 mini or 906bt but there's also the launch x431. I can't find much about the launch tho and don't want to spend $1k on a piece of junk. I need to be able to read and clear code, watch and graph live data and ideally actuate modules on the vehicle. I don't need to be able to flash as the 908 can.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The 906 BT is supposed pretty much do what the 908 does. The 905 is discontinued and it also did what a 908 does. The 908p and elite can program.
The launch is pretty decent. It covers Domestic, Asian and European.
I have a 906 and just added the Launch pro. It is the first wireless VCI tool own.
I have a vintage Solus as well.
I have read some claim it lacks on few cars GM abs bleed.
It is supposed to do some things on euro better than autel.
The tablet Autel uses seems better quality than the launch.

Depending on what features you really need/use, the Actron CP9680 is not bad. It is a handheld and does have a cord. It can do real time display and some graphing.

Even though the software can be updated, they have not released any new software in a couple of years. Actron is now owned by Bosch and this same reader is sold under the Bosch name with a different color case.

Bosch also own OTC, so the Encore and Evolve are Bosch products.
