what screws do you use to mount gladiator gearwall and track

I installed my GearTrack using Craftsman VersaTrack fasteners from Sears. I got them real cheap using SYW (ShopYourWay) points. I like the torx heads.

If you're buying Gladiator track, for Gladiator cabinets, why not use, say Gladiator screws? What am I missing here?

The Gladiator screws have Phillips heads. According to several reviews on the Sears website, the paint inside the screwhead prevents the bit from engaging properly, so it's really easy to strip the head of the screw.

That looks good.. and a decent number of screws too for the price.

Correct, none of them snapped. The torx bit provided with the VersaTrack fasteners fits nicely into the screwhead, despite the paint, so no stripped fasteners either. I zipped them all in with my impact driver.

If the deck screw color affected my installation I would dab the top of the screws with white paint and move onto covering them from view with my cabinet or hooks.

While I fully understand the obsolescence of the Phillips head screw, I have personally installed at least 60 feet of the Gladiator track with their screws and never had that happen. In fact I was really surprised how the screw "felt" as it countersunk in the track. Just sayin'.

Drywall screws are great... for drywall.

Deck screws will work. Even better, go with Spax construction screws. I have used them on multiple projects and they aren't prone to break like drywall screws.

Just dab them with paint.... seriously. I can't tell you how many times I've done this when I want the screws to match on the project.

I used the gladiator screws only because I got them free with my tracks and the paint does in fact chip off, Use a spray paint can and spray a piece of cardboard so some paint builds up, then take a q-tip, dab paint, dab screw... done. I ended up ditching the gladiator screws because they are too short, I think I used 3.5" deck screws that I used the dab method for paint. They blend completely with the tracks.

I have both GearWall and GearTrack, bought from Sears. Neither came with any fasteners.
