What should I run to my Shop

So I've got trenches open and water and power ran but why I have them open I'm thinking of what I should run to the garage while I have the opportunity. I'm thinking

Coax- Not sure if i'd ever use it but you never know and it was 24 bucks for 200'

2 Cat6 ethernet cables. I could use these for numerous things.

Any other ideas?

If it was me I will add 2 more cat 6 you can use them for low voltage, cameras, HDMI over cat 6 etc

Are you running 220 volt electrical? I would run twice the electrical wire that I think that I need.

Agree with the 240v electrical but i bet that's already there.

Also very much agree with the 2 more cat6 cables. They are not very expensive and there's more and more things that are using them. Internet of Things is one of the biggest growing markets right now and yeah its mostly wireless but wifi and seperatr buildings (especially metal) are not often friendly.

If it were me, I'd run some twine through there and tie it off where it comes out on either end. Then you can pull whatever, later.

Several of them, you may need them later for fiber optic, laser data, solar feed, or whatever else comes in the future

This and then some. When they built our house and restored and moved the smithy, they not only didn't have cat 5... they didn't have cable TV up here, and the internet? Ha ha ha ha ha... Satellite? That's top-secret mil spec stuff. Heck, if they wanted heat in the shop, they used barbecue bottles and a radiant heater and an old coleman catalytic. Phone? Ha ha ha ha ha... Neighbor's got a phone.

In 20 years, who knows what there will be, but if you don't have a way to get it to the shop... you won't have subflexive fasartas or delta-wave lines, and everyone else will go "damn, how can you survive without???" And you might, too.

I agree on the cat 5 and the extra conduit. If you really wanna go overboard you can always have a line of fiber ran too. But I think the cat 6 is plenty for data

Conduit Conduit conduit. Maybe there will be something better than 'cat 5' or 'coax' in the future...run direct bury an you are stuck with whatever you put in. Conduit does two things: (1) future proofs you and (2) defers the cost to when you actually chose to install whatever you need

You can ever go wrong with running an extra 2" conduit or two. Sweep 90*s and you're good to go.

+1!!! I ran an extra conduit from my house to my shop when the trench was still open. Ive pulled a few things through that conduit over the last 6 years. Chris
