I have a 40x60 pole barn, im planning on using a propane hanging furnace to heat. Im unsure of what size to use. The walls are insulated with r30(that's what I found cheap on craigslist lol) Thanks for any help.

Where is the building located? Any perimeter slab insulation? How much insulation in the ceiling? What temp do you want to maintain? Do you need it to go from 40 to 65 quickly? I highly recommend a radiant tube heater over forced air. Heat objects not air.It will use at least 30% less fuel to heat when compared to a hanging furnace.

Does the building have a ceiling? How high? What kind of temp rise do you anticipate needing (ie 30 degrees would be from 30° outside temp to desired 60° inside) Will you be keeping it heated or just turn it on when you are in there. What part of the country/world are you located? is it cold all the time or does the temp swing constantly?

What do you have for doors and windows? insulated? loose fitting?

Has r11 on roof no ceiling yet. Concrete floor. Plan on keep in it at 40 unless I'm working. I'm near Dayton Ohio. I have slider doors for now until I get some money set back again for good doors(since some worthless person decided to been in my house and had to put up new door and install alarms and get wife a gun for her to carry)

Sorry to hear about the home invasion. Not to get political ... but you don't hear too much about those on the evening news, especially when the homeowner decides to arm themselves after.

Regarding your heater. A big one today. When you do all the stuff you want to do and talked about doing, you'll need a smaller one.

I wouldn't bother trying to heat it until you get more insulation in the ceiling. Mike
