It doesn't bother me at all, in fact I've done the same thing, but as a feeder, 4/0 is supposed to be limited to 180 amps. It's good for 200 amps as a service entrance though. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

In a way I'm a little bit of an outlaw when it comes to athawtee.
I get there are certain "rules in place" and some for good reason. Others is just some opinion or a best practice at most.

I am a retired distribution lineman after 39 years and a 200 amp service with 4/0 al was spec. That 4/0 had no protection. Nope, straight into the transformer whether it be a 25kva or a 250kva. Didn't matter, if it faulted there was no protection. At least in my case it has some protection.

So for the code to say you can't have 4/0 behind a 200A breaker is asinine. At least in my opinion.
And yes I have a lot of opinions.
Especially on GFCI.
Sure an outdoor outlet or one within so many feet of a sink or whatever, sure ok.

But how does an enclosed garage or shop differentiate from a plug in the living room?
To me there is no difference. If need be ill put a recliner in the shop and designated that area as a living area. In other words there is no difference between the two.
So.e may say well there is flooring in the house and only concrete in the shop.
Well a lot of homes nowadays skip the carpet or wood floor and only have concrete floors.

To be fair, it doesn't. It says the load needs to be 180a or less. Since a 180 breaker doesn't exist, you can run a 200
How in the heck are you posting a reply to something i just submitted. Holding it was less than a second.
Voodoo?
