I am doing some kitchen wiring and there is my alarm heat sensor which is not being used.
So it got me thinking what type where. 2 story w basement. LP pipes through basement up to 2nd floor.
I was thinking that I would put the battery smoke detectors in the spare bedrooms as I have them.
New for master, upstairs laundry w gas dryer and hallway.
also new for 1st floor which has gas cooktop and basement with on demand LP water heater.
I am thinking wired with interconnect.
Which model where?

Generic questions get generic answers.

I'd sprinkle some ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms throughout, combo or mixed. Each type is better at early detection on different types of fires.

Perhaps even add a temperature based sensor in an area where normal detectors aren't recommended like garage and kitchen.

Finish it out with a carbon monoxide sensor near the common bedroom hallways.

My personal preference is a hard wired system with battery backup, all interconnected.

Change them out at their recommended intervals, and sleep well.

Local codes around here say 1 detector in each bedroom, 1 in the hallway, 1 in the kitchen. In the utility room I would get a dual fire/gas detector. With a separate laundry I would put a dual mode one there also.

They are cheap insurances. So is a good fire extinguisher !
