Go bluetooth. You can find a set of wireless bluetooth speakers with same wattage/loudness for same money. stream from smart phone or computer in house and boom. The ones i have are 4" square by 18 inch long are mounted to the wall with gorilla glue are out of the way and have brought the cops to the house quite a few times. they are vizio brand from wally world/bestbuy/amazon and were $32 for the pair. you just need a power cord.

Neither. They both show up as either "Discontinued" or "Unavailable".

That was my first thought too, then I realised he was only using that site to show the unit and plans to buy a secondhand one.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with a CD player. Get some amplified speakers and plug a MP3 player into it, or a smartphone with internet radio streaming.

How about 8 track? Japanese still laughing at that one. It's a game to keep us one step behind. Then cassette, cd and now mp3.

Wow you guys are on fire!

First of all I should mention that I'll use the system mostly trough the music aux interface plugged into my phone to bring music and all king of goodies.

Second of all, I wanted to have a regular way to lisent to regular radio and cds since sometime I might have a mp3 cd in there.

I chose the 460watt and dosen't regret it... I have a surround system, 500watt and that is pretty loud.

Anyway can't go wrong for 40$

Also my phone is connected to my main music library when I'm connected to the wifi so I'll be streaming stuff to it.

I'm going to be using a car stereo head unit. powered by a PC power supply. Four 6" (or even 6x9") speakers flush mounted into the plywood lined wall cavity. Head unit options are plentiful with bluetooth/ipod control/USB etc etc

At that price point you really need to listen to them. Some stuff sounds surprisingly good and some sounds like ****. Also, if this is a working shop a CD player has a life expectancy of about 6 months.

I'll have to look at mine. I bought it off of my grand nephew. It's small, you can play MP3's through it, you can hook it up to a TV for surround sound, has a small set of speakers, remote control, and a fantastic sound. I only run two speakers, but I can crank it up, open the windows, and listen to music anywhere on our property, plus the neighbors property.

I check when I get out there this morning.

Funny you bring this up because it's exactly what I was thinking about yesterday and decided that just laying my iphone somewhere (or in my pocket) was plenty enough.

I had regular speakers hung up in the old garage and given the proximity of neighbors you can't really utilize them to their full potential anyway.

460Watt yep... but pretty lound and neighbors are pretty close.

Clear sound is what I need more than power. The one I bought has 460Watt but its pretty clear as for the sound.

Plus when they are not there I get to crank it up a little :D

 That was my first stereo in the basement when I got my first house back in 1981. It was a Craig floormount with Pioneer speakers run through a 12V model train transformer, out of my old 71 Ford. Even had one of those Alaron plug-in FM converters.;) Hey, it was tunes. Bought a new good stereo for upstairs, and took the old one downstairs, eventually. Still have the Craig and it still works. Should check with the Smithsonian.:D

I have been cruising craigslist looking for big speakers for the shop. Its 50x72 and out in the sticks so no neighbors to worry about unless you get really crazy. Found some Peavey sp2 and sp3 speakers for sale along with a few PA amps.

Seems a lot of people are getting out of the DJ business. My plan is to hook up a tuner and ipod interface to an amp and let er rip!
