Many of those "wells" are so constricted that the single-item spark plug socket/swivel/extension deals won't work--the steel ring surrounding the joint won't fit into the well.

In my case, the black ring won't fit into the "well" of the GM 3.4L DOHC "W" body engine.

I had the same problem with my one. I cut the ring off and welded the swivel pin. Now it works perfectly!

Slight thread resurrection, but I had a question for those guys with the Koken plug sockets: Do the ZEAL spark plug sockets (3300CZ) have brass inserts as well? Or do they forgo them for less weight?

locking extensions if you're worried about the socket sticking on the plug and the extension pulling out

All 5/8" sockets:
1) ordinary spark plug socket; length=2.5",
2) extended spark plug socket; (performance w80533), length= 5",
3) swivel spark plug socket (sk4480) w/ locking extension (sk45184); combined length = 7-3/8".

Magnetic is the hot setup. Just got some in on Friday when I picked up my latest TOPTUL shipment. TOPTUL also has some nice t-handle spark plug sockets with swivels.

Thanks guys! I ordered the full set (14, 16, 18 and 20.8mm). I was thinking about getting magnetic ones, but I've heard that some Bosch plugs are nonmagnetic. The clip design works on all plugs. :)

Just used a Gearwrench magnetic socket last week end on my ladies jeep. Works great, but I need to expand my collection to include more sizes. I think I'm gonna look into the clips style just in case.

I have the OEM 3/4" magnetic socket for my chain saws, etc., and it is a well made socket. I use a Snap-on 5/8" magnetic for auto work.

Ordered this socket from Amazon and got it yesterday. Looks to be good quality. Finish is like Hazet or Stahlwille.

Since we're on the topic, why do my 2 NOS Kobalt USA sockets have this internal design while my more expensive Mac, Cornwell, SK and a Craftsmsn USA don't?

Never heard of a spark plug that isn't magnetic.
