I have an Ingersol Rand Model 1R5E6VA 5hp, 2cyl compressor w/ an IR motor I acquired cheaply because it was missing the motor pulley, motor capacitor and cover, belt and part of the rear shield, and the pressure switch was physically broken.
I contacted IR and they had no literature on the unit (built around 1990) at all.
I'd like to test the unit to make sure the components are good, so the first step is replacing the external start capacitor (It has only a start unit, and no external run unit).
Since the original start cap is missing I'm not sure what value to choose despite Googling.
The motor is a 5hp 208-220v 1 Phase 3450rpm continuois compressor duty unit.
What value start capacitor should I try installing?
