At the risk of sounding like Merk, I saw this on Snap On's website and went "What the hell?"

They sell the SOEXM710 10 pc metric combination wrench set for $311. But wait! If you order now, they'll throw in the accompanying 7pc SAE set for FREE! You have to order item SOEXM710X707 though to get the free promotion. However, item SOEXM710X707 is $515. Huh? How come getting the FREE wrenches costs $204 extra? Am I missing something here?

Home depot had the same thing last week when I was there, $149 for a 18 v Dewalt drill, or get the drill with bonus 4" grinder for $259 ...... what a deal, I think the grinder was only $99 normally haha

It is always nice when something is free and they add on some rediculous handling charge, or in snap on's case just change the part number and jackup the cost to the same as buying them both or close to it.

This is a glitch in the system. The price of both sets of wrenches is $515 (full list). When that set was on promo it was discounted to $311 list. I doubt that there are even any of that promo package left. The promo part number is something that probably got left on the website by mistake. If you can get the package for $311 then its a great deal.

That's actually how I noticed this, after reading that thread I thought I'd see what current retail price was to figure out what the discount would be.

students are not allowed to purchase that set at 50% off. i tried with my rep, and he gave me a quote with them at 50% off of full list price. so it was about half of $515.

I sold my last set of those a couple of months ago. Some dealers loaded up on that deal more than I did. They have not offered that package to the dealers for probably 9 months now.

That shipping price might not be that far off. If he can't fit that into a Flat rate box, that is probably a good price.

I called my Snappy guy... He has two left at $311.00. Even at that great price you can't even split the sets, sell them as new and make money (I checked Ebay's completed listings for sales of Snap on Combination wrenches... Seems like Snap on Combo wrench prices are a good deal on Ebay at this time)
