What the heck is this socket for?

Picked this socket up at the pawn shop for $1, but can't figure out what it actually fits. I assume its some sort of axle/hub socket, but what exactly for? It has AmPro markings, but the model number is worn off.

Any guesses?

Appears to be the water pump tool for 4.6 and 4.0 Cadillac Northstar engines.

You need a fancy tool for a water pump ? What was the engineer smoking when they designed such a thing ?

last year my buddy closed his shop and gave me a thread kit "time sert" he said they paid alot for just to do work on northstars, he showed me an engine core and seen where they put the starter. what a pain.

So that sounds like the mercedes aluminum block that needed fancy $$$$$$ tools and inserts for the block. At least they kept the pump and startercin the right place.
