I found this tool in an old storeroom and initially thought it was a carpet stretcher - but it doesn't stretch...it appears to some kind of a seam separator.

It has numbers on it, but no brand name - I haven't been able to find anything similar on the internet. It's appx 11" long.

Any info would be appreciated!

The thing is, it doesn't have a stretching action - when you press the lever, it pushes out in opposite directions. If you centered the tool over a seam, it would separate it when you pushed on the lever.

Now that you mention it, all the carpet stretchers I've ever seen had straight spikes. Perhaps it's for lifting/removing carpet? That would explain the angled spikes and the lack of a stretching action.

Wow...you found it!! The infamous wall stretcher....wow that is great for stock rooms that need more space..I have sent a bunch of newbies out for just this tool when we run out of wall space...after walking around the mall for 2 hours they kinda got it..lol...the funny thing was I would send them to my buddies store who would then say he just lent it to another store and so on..

Looks like a carpet removal tool...it picks up the corners to pull back nasty carpet for removal..also for moving rolls around...kinda like glass cups..or am I way off base??:willy_nil

Not all raised floors are in data centers.
My company has one 300,000 sq. ft. building that is all raised floor, with carpeted tiles.
There is six or so inches of space under the entire work area. It is great for cabling to workstations, and flexible in how things get re-arranged.
