I am a tool guy, I tag sale, dumpster dive and generally scrounge. I recently came into possession of what I find to be an extremely well made and perhaps unique vice. I am having the darnedest time identifying it. I will try and attach some photos. Has anyone seen one of these and what exactly is it for. It hold a round pipe very securely without collapsing it. It has a tag on the side of it reading, Montgomery& Co. Inc. Springfield, New Jersey. Any information will be appreciated.

I've seen one before. It is a vise, but the jaws are designed to hold odd shaped objects.

Thanks for the posts. That horseshoe vice seems a very good possibility though I couldn't find an example of it anywhere in google farrier supplies etc. Any ideas out there where I could find history on it or the manufacturer? Thanks again for the help.
