All joking aside, maybe it was a reject that was not supposed to be sold to the public, or a demo piece. Perhaps even a research and development test. Compare this to this and see what is better, but one can still read the brand names.

It was likely either a factory second or over run. It was probably wholsesaled outside the official chain and the name was obliterated so as not to dilute the brand name.

Yep, got these Torx drivers that I can't identify. All they say is "Torx T-** U.S.A" No other markings on them but I agree with WVU Tuba Dale, it's probably a factory second like the x out golf balls you can find.

I saw alot of tools with "USA" on them but with no brand. Quality is ok to low. I assume they must be made in the US since federal law dictated that only tools made in US get the "USA" stamp.

My dad bought this in the late 70s (or early 80s) from a regular Sears store near our home.
They were selling them as refurbished or factory seconds. I don't recall which.
It has worked just fine for me for >25 years.

Sears just recently had a set of Cman screwdrivers on sale for almost 75% off. The reason after looking close enough was that all the No.2 philips in every pack had a No.2 Roberston labled on the handles on them. Every single one in every set on the shelf.

No attempt to pull em all off the shelf, just sold em off at a reduced price. Too bad I don't need any more screwdrivers.
