I know ebay is a total RIPPOFF! But, I was looking through the ebay motors site at wrenches. I was astonished (SP) to see some of the "buy it now" prices. I was curious what the real value is with some of the wrenches I own. I have a few BMW wrenches... big deal, I think. I have a new condition Renault wrench, a bunch of DIN895 wrenches, a few Fiat wrenches, and some old Gedore (sp?) wrenches. .. lots of Hazet wrenches, a Ranger wrench, and a bunch of others.
Ebay made these wrenches look like they were a "gold mine". Clearly, that can't be true. But, I was wondering if anyone knew the history of these wrenches, which are valuable, which are "knock-offs" ect. Love any input. cheers, bird

Yeah, you see it on the news every night - eBay tracks down unsuspecting visitors to the internet, holds a gun to their head, and forces them to pay exorbitant prices for stuff.

Nothing has ever sold on eBay for more than a buyer was willing to pay.

I sell several items a month on Ebay and have never found any of my items to be worth more than someone is willing to pay for them. I do get aggravated when someone buys an item and than complains about the shipping/ handling costs, these are clearly stated in the auction listing. Ebay is just a good tool to help bring buyers and sellers together. If you don't like the total cost of an item, don't buy it. Wait for a similar/ same item to list again. Thanks for letting me rant!

MY WIFE holds the gun to her own head and pays too much now and then. She did it at a silent auction lastnight ( it was for a good cause though )

If you're only looking at Buy-It-Now, that isn't much of a measure of market value. Check the completed auctions. That's where the rubber meets the road.

You can pay exhorbant prices at a charity auction, but your there to support the cause and the item you get in secondary. My problem is when I take my wife to a regular auction she thinks like it is at a charity auction and will bid on orphan junk just because no one else would.
