Hi--I picked up this thing at a yard sale, and have no idea what it might be. Anyone have any ideas? It's 7" long, has a mother of pearl handle, the silver is plate of some kind, and to make matters worse, there are no markings of any kind of the thing. I'm stumped--help!
Thanks in advance.
Al D.

The handle makes me think its not a food or kitchen tool, and that makes me think maybe I really don't want to know what its for.

Couldn't be a shoe horn-far too small! Less than 1" from one edge of the curved portion to the other. Perhaps for very tiny people?

A fancy shoehorn for a ladies' kit, 1890's to 30's era? Somewhere out there there should be at least a hand held mirror and hairbrush very similar.

That is an antique Victorian nose cleaner.

If its 7" long, then the half circle scoop on the end is about 1", too big for a nose, too small for a heel.

It looks to me like something you would use to cut out a core, push in, rotate, pull out a cylinder of whatever.

Looks like we have a bingo, ladies and gentlemen--it is indeed a cheese scoop, I located a bunch of them on eBay! Many thanks for all those who participated. Now I need to go, to get some very stinky cheese to try it out with!
