What's really important is just exactly how much markup is acceptable on their Spam.

The real question here is: 6 point or 12 point, which is better?

It is SPAM. Hit the report button and it will be dealt with. If you are not sure read the topic titled 'HELP STOP SPAM'.

Pretty sure your post sounds like a broken record at this point

I think last time this came up there was also an explanation that Ryang is the only mod that gets the e-mail report? Any talk of a group email so the 1st mod who gets it can clean up?

I try to check out the new posts first thing in the morning when I can. If I spot it before Ryan gets the notification, I clean it up.

As far as all of us getting the notification, probably won't happen until the change to a new format if at all.

Sadly it does appear to fall on deaf ears just like the message not to post a reply to it. All Mods deal with it as we see it and that is why Ryan has set up Mods in different time zones. When and if we go to the new format posters report a spam or trouble post will find it is soft deleted leaving Admin or Mods to check and fully remove.

Easy fix would be to not accept korean membership in the first place.
How hard is it? These dudes keep posting...I keep asking.

No longer that easy as they can join up using a hidden IP location. We had one some time ago Brad1 became all the way to Brad32. As fast as he was banned he joined with a new name under a new IP address. I lost count but was banning him at one point as he joined each time with a new name.

We also have a few join up saying they are in Australia for example and they look OK but the post then comes from an IP address in Vietnam.

Anyway to have a challenge question when making a new account? Something easy but not anything an overseas spammer would know.

almost impossible to set an effective ban when the chuckleheads who do this sort of thing usually have VPN accounts or are spoofing through another IP.

not sure you could set a ban on non-alpha-numeric characters or how you would do it. too many characters, and then you'd get into ASCII or UTF-8 stuff. mind-boggling. (I'm guessing WAY too much trouble.)

thanks for all you do, mods.

Lets just ban posts with non english in the titles.
Wow . The dude tonite posted a hundred in a few minutes.
Its getting ugly.

That is a bit harsh. We have forum members in many non English speaking countries that would are seen as valuable members here.

Last night I banned about six new members that I could see would be posting spam. Often we do see them before they post. I have seen one member rejoin over an over but still keeps making the same mistake with name he joins under and his hobby.

Is there any way to just limit posts to one per minute per member?

That wouldn't make much of a difference in my opinion. It all works out with reporting and Mods...

If you limit posts... they will flood the system with profiles... posting on each. Which is harder for the mods to deal with. A single machine gunning spammer is easier to shoot in the forehead.

IMHO

I used to manage a website that had one of those "contact us" submission forms. Spammers would always attack it, and send ads for various pecker-pills and what-not. It only sent messages to the manager, and after the first few offenses, it didn't allow URLs. But they would still send junk text to it all the time. WHY? Get a life. Like my boss is finally going to break down; "You know what? I AM going to order my meds from these guys! They are just so endearingly persistent!"

Your observation is appreciated and all three have been banned. This is how I catch them before they post. Some times they may not post for some time so when a new member joins seeing what is on a profile is a dead give away. Again good call and help like that is always appreciated to help keep the forum on topic.
