What to do first? Paint Garage walls or epoxy flooring first?

I was wondering if there is a recommended order, or at least an order that results in less cleanup effort for 1) finishing / painting the garage walls and ceiling and 2) applying epoxy floor coating.

Interesting... I would have recommended just the opposite. If you get paint on your epoxy floor it wipes right up with little to no effort. If you spill paint or drip on your cement it soaks in and you have to make sure you do a very good job cleaning and grinding to remove it so you don't have possible problems with the epoxy sticking good there. Also if you get any epoxy on the walls you can cover it when you are painting the walls since the epoxy paint is more messy then the latex you will be using on the walls.

I guess to each his own.... That being said if I was doing any other type of flooring floors are last.

Imprinted the ceiling and walls first and did get some drips on the floor.
Pressure washed the floor then painted the floor

If you do the floor first I would for sure cover it for painting the walls

I'm just getting ready to start my garage make over and plan on painting the walls and ceiling first. I plan on putting down drop cloths but even if I get a little paint splatter on the floor I'm not to concerned as I'm going to diamond grind the floor prior to applying the epoxy.

I had planned on prepping the floor and putting down epoxy prior to painting the walls. I'm starting to think different after reading this thread. However, would it be better to diamond grind the floor to the remove old coating, then paint walls/baseboards, then apply epoxy? I would just hate to diamond grind the floor and get dust all over the freshly painted walls.

I'm doing mine now and I'm starting with the floor. Simple drop cloths can protect it once the floor is done. I can't see any meaningful advantage to doing to walls first. In my house I made sure that I painted the walls over the carpet before we put in new carpet but considering the easy cleanup on a hard non-porous floor I see little point in doing the walls first. Even if you spilled a whole gallon of wall paint on an epoxy floor, you could still wipe it up of scratch it off after it dries.

I was procrastinating on my build waiting to to the floor first, then the electrical, then the walls/ceiling, then build shelves and workbench. I figured the tile would be the worst of the work, and once I got through that things would fly by.

I painted my walls first. I rented a sprayer from HD and did the walls and ceiling. I didn't bother putting a drop sheet down on the floor. Sprayers are convenient but man they make a mess if everything isn't taped off and covered.

Anyway, I had Stonhard do my floor and they used a grinder so the overspray on the floor wasn't an issue. I'll be doing it all over again when we move into our new house in 2 months. Walls first, then Max Jax anchors and then the Floor Coating.

I'll have to be nice to the neighbour so I can keep all of my stuff in their garage while the floor is being done.

I went the other way and did the floor first. Didn't want to mess with trying to protect the walls. Epoxy is hard enough to do right without added complexities. I did have to do a couple white paint coats of primer over some epoxy spots on the bottom of the walls after the floor was done. Was going to repaint them anyway. No problems, just a little more white paint primer needed to cover it up. - Paul

My mate is a painter and he says top down. If you start at the bottom you are sure to drip on it later. I've followed this advice over and over.
