3 sheets of 18mm ply.

Legs have 8mm plates on top of them so was easy for attaching to the top.
Bolted to the bottom two and counter sunk the middle one so top sheets covers all...handy job!

I have made a 2T gantry crane and a workbench with 4" box tube w 0.250" wall.

For the workbench I did not use casters, I put adjustable leveling mounts (feet) so no matter where I place it, I can always adjust it to be stable and not rocking. More or less weld 3/4" hex nut to flat 3/8" thick plate, then weld the 3/8"t square to the bottom of each leg.

I made the gantry crane to straddle this workbench since the crane is parked 99.9999% of the time. But, I just realized it would be very easy to relocate the workbench by using the gantry crane :)
