Greetings, GJers,

I bought a dark blue Snap-on S008 flat blade screwdriver with a broken tip. The handle plainly says, "Not a prybar, chisel or punch" but the PO didn't believe it.

The handle is in pretty good condition. If it were anything but a Snap-on, I wouldn't have bought it or would have already ground it to another configuration. If it were yours, would you:

1. Ask a Snap-on truckie to replace the blade? I've never tried to warranty a tool I knew was defective when I bought it. Do they sell just the blades?
2. Regrind it and use it?
3. Sell it to a collector?
4. Other suggestions?

1. I would try to warranty it, if they say no you can get a replacement blade, and the SO may replace it for you.

2. Do not regrind it until you have tried the above.

3. Take handle off, put on Snap on Ratchet of appropriate size and look cool.

just find a truck and have him fix it. the blades are warrantied now if the blade is in a rainbow shape you might get it back NOT fixed. if it is bent then straighten it before you go see a dealer

If you like it have a dealer replace the blade or call snap-on and give the the model number. They will probably send you a blade

I had a like new SDDP42 with a broken tip. I pulled the blade, found the part # for it and sent it in to get replaced & Then installed the new blade when I got it back.

Your screwdriver is probably an SDD8, not an S008. The replacement blade for that screwdriver is an SSD8RB. Any truck should have that item in stock.

ask for a warranty...never had a problem

take the handle off the blade, throw the blade away.
drill out the handle and turn in into a shift handle for your car
get a matching handle fron a pick set to go on the turn signal lever
