What to do with an old transmission casing?

Repurpose it... :) Used to be into BMW 2002s in a big way and had stripped many cars for parts. I eventually saw the light (after some words from the boss of me) and got rid of it all except I kept a ****** casing to make into a stool. Have been hanging onto this thing for 15+ years and finally turned it into the rolling stool that I had in mind all along. Still have two vintage cars that I am now (finally) working on and the stool has come in handy already.

Glued together a couple of pieces of cabinet grade plywood and used a roundover bit on the edges. Would have bead blasted it but my cabinet isn't big enough.

I love it! So much better than throwing it into the junk pile.

I'm currently making a stationary stool using a disc brake rotor for the base, crank shaft for the middle and a fly wheel for the seat. Plan on covering the fly wheel with some padding to keep the cheeks happy!

Maybe mount a cup holder on those two bolts for the slave cylinder? :)

If it were me I think I'd hit it with a can of Krylon 'dull aluminum' spray paint, it looks really close to fresh bare aluminum.
