I have parallel chord trusses in my very small garage that I'm refinishing.
I'm pulling everything out to the studs, insulating, and dry walling, but I don't know what to do with the ceiling.
Currently I shove stuff up there for storage, which is very limited because the trusses are close. I would like to finish the ceiling, but I do use the rafters to hang stuff from- usually throwing a ratchet strap over just to lift or maneuver something temporarily (not engines or anything, just things that are difficult for me alone). The trusses are not very high, the garage is a little lower than my house below the rafters.
The goal is to make the whole garage over into a shop, with lots of organization and work tables. There will be space for 1 vehicle, but none will typically be parked or stored in it.
So I really don't know what to do with the ceiling here- any ideas? Also do I need to insulate the ceiling in the trusses or will airspace (if drywalling) be sufficient?
