The garage was here when I bought the house, so unfortunately I had no say in how it was done :( . My problem is I don't have lights hardwired in, I have outlets in the ceiling. So my current setup is that I have about 5 of the el cheapo 2 bulb four foot lights scattered around plugged into to extension cords to reach the outlets... It looks like several octopuses swinging down from the ceiling... My ceiling is 8ft tall and has the foam board insulation on it, I have tried sticking the cords up in the joints to hide them but that yields nothing pretty... I have plans on painting the ceiling when it gets warmer and I figure this would be the best time to tackle the light situation as well... Help me please...

If you have acces to the attic above the garage it would be relatively simple to wire some more outlets from the existing ones so that you could use your existing lights without the extension cords.
