After introducing myself in the 'Introduce Yourself' forum, it was mentioned that I should post a little project I created in this forum. So, here it is...
The story...
As most people know, we have plenty of lakes in MN which means plenty of beaches. Well, one of my favorite cocktails in the summer is a good ol' fashioned Margarita with way too much tequilla in it. So, finding myself on a boat or beach without a good means to create one got me thinking. I had seen 'store bought' gas blenders and had even used one. The problem was that most were only 21cc and had a carb that was not adjustable. So, pending our near end of summer trip up to WeFest, a large country music festival, I had about 2 hours to throw one together. Here it is. When it was all said and done I had about $100 into it and $25 of that was the aluminum diamond plate. I didn't have a welder accessible at the time, so there are certainly some improvements for future ones, but it definitely gets the job done. The motor is a 31cc Bohlens off of a weed whip I found at a Northern Tool outlet for $25 and the blender was your run of the mill Oster I got at target for around $40. The drive shaft was made out of brass square tubing and has already successfully met its intention of the shear point should the blades get jammed. (Some sand got in the bushing of the blender). The blue stuff in the blender container is for if you wanted to 'freeze' it before use. I just bought that model because all the other ones were glass and have never had the intention of actually freezing it.
