What to expect from safety glasses

Have been wearing the same style of prescription glass safety glasses for 20+ years and have drop them on concrete numerous times with never a problem. Drop them again but this time the one lens chipped inside at the stem. Glass is compromised but is chipping how a safety glass should act. All i could out of the eye glass company is it wasn't under warranty since its 2 years old.

The newest standard for safety glasses are is z87.1 That link above is a video of the testing required. I can't see how you could look at a lens and see if it failed the standard though, as they don't have a drop them onto concrete test.
