What to keep or rebuild? Jacks

Nothing too fancy here but I just got two jacks for free.
I've used my HF aluminum race jack for over a decade but now I have a Jeep Wrangler and its not ideal.
Just got handed two free floor jacks and they are beefy! 93lb for one, probably 75lb for the other!
They would do better with my Jeep but they certainly take up some room.
I'm thinking of cleaning the filthy things and maybe even repainting/rebuilding. The other I'd just sell, takes up too much space.

One is a Lincoln (Hein Werner type) 2 ton listed with 20" height.
Other is a Powerbuilt 3.5 ton also 20" height.

I know the Lincoln is more expensive, but is it really better? Seems stronger than the powerbuilt due to its weight but isn't rated as high. Seems like a pro level service jack.

They both have a large footprint so I only want to keep one. Was thinking it'd be cool to do a strip and paint on one I keep.

Ideas? Or a just a waste of time (or both)

I have a Lincoln and a Craftsman and only found a rebuild kit for my Lincoln. See if you can get parts for your other Jack.

This is the second, its partially disassembled, I have all the parts though. Looks like there is a rebuilt seal kit.
I assume the Lincoln is worth more?

They’re all good as long as they are rebuildable. The 3 1/2 ton is hard to toss if you can get parts. Perhaps you can take handle off for better storage like under bench ? Just my two cents[emoji6]

If you got the seal kit for the Powerbuilt build both. If you have to buy kits I say do the Lincoln first and then see if you can find a kit for the other and if you can build both. The Powerbuilt looks like an import made jack and sometimes the seal are hard to get for those.

Before you get excited about the rebuild, do a little research and see what all it takes to rebuild a jack of that caliber. There are a few good tutorials on here. I've rebuilt a few, the walker / snap on style and they are not fun.

Good info, yes, the powerbuilt is probably an import. It does have a higher limit and a two piece handle which I often like to use jacks half length.
I'll definitely look up the complexity of rebuilding.

The two big problems with rebuilding a hydraulic jack are loosening the tank bolt and setting the over load.

For the tank, you need a big pipe wrench and a 6' cheater, plus a heavy duty bench and clamps to hold the assembly !

The overload valve is an issue, because you do not have the proper equipment to set it to the proper amount once the rebuild is complete. 2 speed jacks have 2 valves. The only thing you can do is CAREFULLY mark the position of the adjustment screw(s) and then count the turns as you back it out. Take pictures, make notes, keep the ball(s) and spring(s) in the proper order.

Thanks, exactly why I asked, lots of details I don't know.
At least the Lincoln cleaned up nicely, just a scrub with Dawn soap so far

Neither work, and thanks for the good info. I'm not sure I want another project on my plate

I have a lincoln just like that.. I picked it up at a garage sale for cheap. It worked good, but the frame was tweaked. It'd roll around on 3 wheels, but after the first pump lifting something, it was back on all 4 wheels. I dont know how it tweaked, but it still worked good. Now, it needs a rebuild as well.. not sure if I will since I've gotten other jacks since.
