What to look for in a plasma table

I’m at a place where I can consider a used plasma table. I finally have the space to allocate and enough extra currency to not be put out by a used table. I’d like to be able to run half sheets at least but can fit a bigger machine if the price is right.

Since used is my plan, what are the computer/software questions I should have and what parts, aside from the torch, wear fastest? are there bad tables on the market?

I have initial plans for a small run of light gauge steel boxes then building brackets and fixtures for a big farm project, then I’ll turn the kids loose to build signs.

Currently there is a 5x10 Torchmate and a Dynaweld super B 50”x50” within 200 miles of me. Both are sizes I can accept and both come with plasma cutters.

The torch mates are really dependent on what vintage they are. The older ones Lincoln dropped the support for when they bought torch mate so unless you want to retrofit a controller and parts as they come up I would make sure it's all supported before you buy one.

For a hobbiest I would look at one that runs on Linux CNC.

As far as consumables motors occasionally, switches, belts if it's belt drive but unless you do a lot you shouldn't go through much of that as a hobbiest.
