I am (hopefully) a couple weeks away from finishing a new construction two car garage. Please see the Mary Kay Garage thread on this forum. I just ordered Swisstrax plastic garage tiles. Does anybody have any recommendations as far as what to put on the virgin concrete floor under the tiles. I am thinking that I ought to use something both to control dust and also to hopefully prevent staining of the concrete when I inevitably spill something. Would need to be reasonable priced but doesn’t need to look good or wear well since it will be under the tiles. Thanks for any input. Pic.

A densifier with siliconate sealer added would be a good option. Densifiers harden the concrete surface to reduce and or prevent dusting. The siliconate sealer provides added protection. The article below describes how they work and includes a very good product that we can recommend. Just keep in mind, penetrating sealers are not stain-proof. They will resist stains if you clean them up fairly quickly, but only a coating will prevent concrete from staining.
