Finely got my attic space ( 18X50 ) floored with 3/4 T&G OSB. Planing on storing lawn tractors, dirt bikes, golfcarts, ect. up there. Would like to protect the floor from the mud & water I know is going to get drug in there.

Was planing on painting it but don't know how well that will hold up.

Any kind of stain or deck sealer that would be good for this?
What do ya think? Give me some ideas. Thanks

Long Beach CA, the sewer by the sea.
Seal it with some clear penetrating sealer and paint it with acrylic porch paint which has way more acrylic in it than other acrylics. Get the sealer and the paint from a reputable paint dealer or at least someone who knows.

You can paint it 2 coats of porch paint as well if you are at all concerned about the compatibility of the porch paint and the sealer. OSB is ***** less paint than say ply or MDF.

BTW, how do you get a golf cart in the attic?? :dunno:

Rustoleum has a product called Restore, for refinishing decks, looks very durable and waterproof...check into it, I think it would work..

What about just some KILZ primer? PLEASE make sure you have determined that you still have proper ventilation and that your trusses can support the storage

Thanks for all the replies

Zeke, I built it into the bank and am planning on making a ramp out of railroad ties.

GarageFlooringLLC, Are you saying to just use KLIZ primer or use primer and paint? Also my trusses are 2x10 on 1ft center, I have a 12x12 center steal beam for support. I hope this will be tough enough!DSCF2321garagemail.jpg

I have found that latex paints will react with rubber products sitting on them. The paint will lift off. Had problems with ladders with rubber feet, folding chairs, fans etc.
Not sure of solvent paints reaction to this.

I was worried about the same thing. That's why I wondered if a stain, or some kind of sealer might be better.

"Damn! Something that nice needs some Pure Mettalic
Epoxy "

I was looking at that, but with 900 sq ft.it will cost all most as much as the floor. But that might be the way to go.:dunno:
