I was at a local thrift store today, and was going through one of the bins that had a few tools in it.

I pulled this out of the bin mainly because I'm not exactly sure what it is. I have an idea but not completely certain.

My guess would be fencing pliers

I'm thinking fence tool as well, my other thought was an extremely old pair of lineman pliers?

I found some markings on it that says Red Devil, that's all I've been able to find on it so far.

Another solid vote for fencing pliers. Linesman pliers never had the dedicated cutter on the outside, which yours should fit 9 gauge almost perfectly Cool find.

Found a pair on Ebay exactly like mine, they are in fact Fencing Pliers. Thanks Sam. I feel pretty good paid 99 cents for them, the ones on ebay are at $18 LOL.

Grip the wire in side cutters and move wire back and forth to snap wire. Used them in the wire mill at Bethlehem Steel in the 70's. Not good for much else other than blood blisters.

I doubt I'll ever be using these, I just saw them in the basket of tool stuff at the thrift store and had to have them, and for 99 cents not much loss there LOL. The ones I picked up are about 14 inches long. Can't really find any information on this particular pair. Everything seems to be talking about the 10" and smaller ones.

Kind of interesting. My uncle says they look somewhat like what they used to use as a lineman for making wire splices. Which, I guess would probably be another use besides fence work. All the different sections for cutting wire is what makes me think that they are more for fence work as a few have mentioned.
