What tools can't you imagine yourself without now that you've used them? Stuff you didn't think you needed but once you tried it there was no going back.

One of them for me is the Lisle rocker arm tool for the GM V6s, and a bearing packer for tapered roller bearings.

Tool for fixing cars, tool for fixing life.

I swear I've fixed hundreds of customers cars with help from smart phones. You tube helps a lot.

Working with my son on his car, the iPad was the most used tool.

I hadn't worked on a car in years, but every problem we had somebody has a video on youtube on how to do it.

proper sequence, torque specs, (and a lot of hacks).

Much easier than when I was a kid.

impact gun. Hands down. It was a game changer for me and I've never wanted to work without one since.

Smart phone is a good one.

Two things I always find myself reaching for are my inspection mirror and telescoping magnet. I can see things from above that would otherwise require crawling under a vehicle, and pick up small items (that contain carbon) with ease.

Air compressor.

Right now mine is in pieces and it is absolutely miserable. I think air is the lifeblood of the shop.

What is this a trick question IE the list of tools for being trapped on a desert island lol. I am going to go with CudaChick "ALL OF THEM" hell some do not come out of the box for a year but when they do man does it make the job easier lol

Gotta agree w OP, the Lisle bearing packer is something I'd never want to be without, AND I'm more likely to maintain my trailers now LOL

Now I wanna see a puller that removes wheel seals with zero damage so they can be re-used if I don't want to run to the trailer supply!

Ratcheting ball screwdriver and Gear Wrench ratcheting box wrenches.

Since EASYDRIVER balls are no longer made, I ****** up every one I come across...just so I don't have to ever worry about not having one.

My mind,

But for tools, a decent scan tool.

Without the right information (DTC's, freeze frame, and live data) it is nearly impossible to fix a modern car right the first time.

Second tool a multimeter, for when it's an off make and there isn't enough live data.

Followed by all the normal hand tools.

My 1/4" socket set (SAE and Metric, but no deep) and my full 38" socket set (SAE and Metric, standard and deep for both, standard ratchet (almost 50 years old !), flex head ratchet, universal and several extensions.)

So many good ones here. Besides the obvious sockets and ratchet: A small 90 degree pick, ball peen hammer, DMM, Kleins, 24" pry bar, Streamlight, and a pencil.

I don't know how I forgot my power probe. I love it for electrical work even though I don't see much of it at the new shop.

Since buying the Milwaukee fuel 1/2 and 3/8 impacts all my projects just take less time so these two tools are something I would not what to be without. my poor air impacts have been left idle for some time now ( with the exception of the earthquake air ratchet as I really like that one )

Actually today I realized without my set of Aven precision tweezers and B&L magnifying visor I'd still have a dozen slivers and splinters stuck in my hands....so yeah, must have items.
