What tools do you take to pull parts?

Just wondering what everyone takes with them to pull parts from their local junk yard or pick and pull. Love to see a pic as well, of both the tools and your container for them?

Do you wear any special clothes, or bring something special with you each time you go?

My local junk yard require that you use a 5 gallon bucket, no backpacks, or cutting torches allowed.

Here's mine:

locking 3/8" rail
3/8" 10mm-17mm sockets
3/8" locking 3" & 6" extension
3/8" 6" wobble extension
6" & 10" lock back pliers
3/8" ratchet, standard design
3/8" ratchet, swivel head
6 in 1 screwdriver
manual door handle remover
3/8" metric hex socket set, 4mm-10mm
dedicated Phillips and straight screwdrivers
adjustable 8" wrench
utility knife

total weight is about 15lbs.

I take HF black latex gloves with me, usually a couple pairs, and a 2-3 water with me as well.

When I go to the junkyard, I bring a tool bag, here's my basic list:

1/2 ratchet
set of 1/2" deep sockets, all SAE
3/8 ratchet
set of 3/8" deep sockets, all SAE
claw hammer
strap wrench
10" adjustable wrench
medium Vise Grips
Phillips head screwdrivers
flat head screwdrivers
couple 1/2 and 3/8" extensions
channel-lock pliers
10" pipe wrench
razor knife
tin shears (works well on plastics and hoses as well)
short demolition bar

Makes for a rather heavy tool bag, but there's little I can't pull with this set.

Can you take a pic when you get a chance, I mean one man's idea of a "race box" might be slight different than anothers, love to see what exactly you mean.

A craftsman all in one blowmolded set, a handful of screwdrivers and pliers, and a hammer. Don't really go just to look anymore, only go when I need something so usually I have a pretty good idea of what's required to get it.

usually have a selection of 3/8" & 1/4" dr sockets, ratchets, ext.
hammer, prybar, or bigass screwdriver
couple pair of vise grips
mag screwdriver, w/ torx bits
3/4"x13/16" flip socket, ext, breakerbar
small cable cutter, dykes, channel locks
stiff putty knife / gasket scraper
straight blade & phillips screwdriver 1/4", 5/16", 7mm nut drivers.

i only take what i need to remove the part i need

I personally take my full bucket even when going for specific parts, sorry to say I usually find other things that aren't yet pulled. Like turbo's on rainy or snowy days.

I don't have a picture, but I take my 1/2" drive Craftsman SAE socket set, and a small toolbox about the size of two Velveta cheese boxes put together side by side. In that small box, I have a cheap set of combination SAE wrenches, a Vise Grip and Crescent wrench for metric fasteners, and a handful of screwdrivers. A small hammer finishes the toolbox.

Anything attached with metric fasteners, I simply use the Visegrip and Crescent wrench to remove. Then I toss the metric fasteners in the mud. Anything attached with SAE bolts gets removed carefully and the hardware saved. Once home, I replace metric fasteners with SAE.

As you might guess, I don't drive ricers, Oriental or US made. I drive old US iron.

I have a 1300 lb max garden cart from lowes, the yellow one with 13" tires. I take it and a carry bag with about 45 lbs of tools in it, some powerade and a face towel for sweat. I wear shorts mostly since it is always hot in S Louisiana, t-shirt and a hat with the brim all the way around for sun protection.

I usually stop by the imports section on the way to the good stuff to grab a trunk carpet to lay on. In the bag I have a complete 3/8" drive socket set, most used 1/4" and 1/2" sockets and drives, 2lb sledge, 25 most used SAE and Metric wrenches, small pry bar, screw drivers of all sizes and a driver set with like 100 specialty bits, pliers, channel locks, wire cutters, panel clip removers, adjustable wrenches, cordless drill and 1/4" cordless impact. I sometimes load up the 1300w generator and sawzall and cut **** up!! The junk yard here is my second home

First trip usually as many tools as I can fit in a fanny pack. The standard 3/8 ratchet, 8-14mm sockets, straight and phillips screwdriver, channel locks, crescent wrench and few other odds and ins. If I need something bigger I go back out the car and grab it. That's only happened a few times, typically when I getting tires. Around here most of the good stuff is taken .

Depends on what I go for. I can pull an engine and only take myself and 2 small bags of tools and still get it out within 2 hours. I pack for weight reasons and its a junk yard so they dont always mind when you start cutting hoses and harnesses. If i have multiple parts to pull, i usually take a normal service kit:

3/8 Snap on flex head ratchet
3/8 Mac sockets (socket rail from 6-19)
1/2 to 3/8 adapter
Long Snap on 1/2 flex head ratchet
1/2 and 3/8 Snap on impacts (spare batteries in the car)
Sharpest pair of tin snips
Snap on talon grip plier set (standard, needle nose, and side cuts)
Snap on standard Flat head and Phillips
Snap on Box wrenches 10,12,13,14, and sometimes 17-19
Adjustable wrench (small and big)
And it a junk yard so never forget a long prybar and decent weight hammer!
(sometimes those windows are good anger management when no on is looking )

The impacts are usually heavy though, so sometimes I leave them in the car unless I know I will use them on at least one car more than just once.

Must be nice... around here (New York, Pennsylvania) they won't let you in the yard (insurance?), and to add insult to injury, they'll follow up by saying it's just not worth their while to go out in the yard and pull the part themselves.

i dont go to the pick-n-pull yards much anymore, (seems to burn up an entire day hgitting 2 or 3 of them) but i always had a list of specific things i was looking for, so i knew what tools to take in with me.
one thing i used to do was grab a couple budddies, and split up the tool load.

sometimes if i'm in the area on weekdays, have the time, and just want to take a look, i grab a few tools, and go for a walk.

i'm always in my service truck, so tools arent a problem

I used to take blaster or wd-40, but honestly it just takes up space in my bucket more then I use it. I'd use it if they made the blaster in the mini cans like wd-40 used to do.
