If you don't want to wait, you could aways buy a 110v 30ish gallon Craftsman compressor to get you by until you have a house. Then just upgrade when you get the house. While you wait for a larger compressor, you can start buying high quality pneumatic tools. When you upgrade to the larger compressor, you will already have to tools you need.

Those oil free Craftsman compressor are loud and not very durable but they sure are a lot nicer than nothing. If you bought one used, you could probably sell it in a few years at about the same price you paid for it.

I would look at what you are or will be working on...do you do this for a living? or just a hobby? Whats your budget? Do you need to make flat rate time?
When I buy tools its always out of neccessity and not "want" as I use what I buy for work..I stay within my budget and if the tool doesnt speed up what I am doing or help me to do the job easier or safer it isnt worth it for me. I generally have a short list of what I think I might need and when a situation comes up I think of whats on that list or something else to make the job go smoother. with the economy the way itis today I wouldnt buy tools just to buy them. Your young and you will have plenty of time to get a good set of tools over the years no sense in buying it all at once. just my 2 cents.

Good vise grips from VISEGRIP brand. Flat jaws and round jaws, couple of different sizes.
C-clamps.......HF will work for most stuff but a little shallow.
