A LCD TV actually generates quite a bit of heat and they aren't that expensive anymore .. :)

I thought LCD's remained cool and the Plasmas got hot. I know our Plasma generates quite a bit of heat. The wifes LCD in the kitchen stays quite cool

I know the LCD monitor in my car is affected by the cold. It is quite dim until it warms up, but this takes no more than 30 seconds.

No problems. Just make sure you don't have a condensation problem in the garage. The backlighting needs to warm a but, so the screen might be dark or even pinkish. Don't worry.

who in the heck got time to watch TV in the garage?
garage is for working not watching the latest soap operas?

I always have the race or football or something on in the background when I'm out in the garage. Either TV's on or Sirius is on.

Its the only damn time I get to see what I want to watch. I usually have Speed, or the VS, or the Outdoor channel on.

Good Point!

That is what a "family" room is for!

Yeah but the family hates me when I watch MotoGP or Indy racing all weekend long....And Im gonna watch it! I just put a old 26 inch Sony up in the corner, gor some 25 ft RCA Adapters and plugged it in our box in the office on the other side of the wall... Built a corner shelf up high... I am just about finished with the whole garage.. I will post pics next week....

Your "NEWBE" is showing. I feel the same way as you, however, I was told and showed that some people use and entertain in their garage. Others just entertain. Just look at some of the pictures, see for yourself.

You will also notice members specifically ask for pictures of "WORKING" garages/shops.

LCD will be fine. Any electronics should be as long as moisture is not a problem. My LCD actually puts out alot of heat, and will warm my room up too much some times.

Shop + TV + TEVO + racing = good work. I have a stack of races recorded on my DVR and listen to them while working on things. When something interesting happens i back up and watch it. I find having something to listen to helps my work. I can zone in better and take my time rather than wanting to use the quickest way or method.

I opted for a cheap Dynex 42" LCD ($699) and a 3-year extended warranty ($99), because of the temperature extremes and dust/dirt. I had my old Plasma in the garage, but the glare when the garage door was open made it nearly impossible to see. I couldn't pass up the deal on this one as its 1080P and though the picture is no where as good compared to my Panasonic Plasma or Mitsubishi DLP, it is good enough for the garage. By the way, its now an outlet item and on sale.

That's a great deal. I just wired for HD Directv and am currently running a 20" tube TV, but I want to get something like what you have as soon as the budget allows.
