Bought from a tool truck? Just curious and include price if you can remember. Mine was a Streamlight flashlight, Stinger DS LED . I payed Matco $140.00 and really had a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact I payed that much money for a flashlight. I still have it today, best flashlight ever.

First tool I actually bought off a tool truck?

SO screw driver set. I only have the large one left.....so that would make it about 40 years or so old.

But my most coveted tool?

Blackhawk multi-bit screwdriver set. My dad gave it to me when I was 16. That makes it over 42 years old. I have all the parts except for 2 bits. I will NEVER get rid of it.

I caught the flashlight bug bought a surefire five years ago from a local shop now have half a dozen or so including my original one which is still kicking it looks new

First tool truck purchase was snap on 1/2 impact swivel 80 bucks the weld pin style And a 40oz dead blow ball pein hammer I think it was 100 bucks Both great investments made well worth the money my favorite hammer and the impact swivel is much higher quality than any of my sunex or craftsman so that there probably worth the premium especially if you run a good impact

I think I got the 3/8 version on eBay for much cheaper around $35

I had to buy a replacement 9/16th wrench for my Snap-on wrench several years go.. I accidentally threw the original one away with some cardboard I was working on. The city truck came the next day and I didn't realize it was gone until after they came. The replacement wrench cost was about half of what I originally gave for the whole set 15 years before from an estate.

Snap on test light, paid around $42.00 which was a lot of money twenty years ago, still is for a test light. I still have it and still works like the day I bought it. I bought a spare bulb at the time but have yet to replace it.

The first time I ever set foot on a tool truck, I handed the guy two broken ratchets I'd been carrying around for years to have rebuilt. I kind of felt bad about the whole situation, so I purchased a JRF36 3/8" flex ratchet. That was the second time I'd ever seen a Cornwell truck; the first was on the other side of a divided highway. Let's just say it's not such an uncommon occurrence these days...

It was either my Matco scan tool...the basic one. I think I coughed up $65, or $89. Don't remember...or my 1/4" Snap On roto head...which was $117.

Snap-On distributor wrench for small-block Chevy.
Haven't seen the receipt for a while but it was less than $7.00. SEVEN, not seventy!
That was in late 60s or early 70s.

Who knows?
Let's see.....

I believe for me it was Matco's 24" 1/2 ratchet with a green handle. Price was north of $200 I believe. I also bought a pair of Matco 45 degree 16-inch pliers with the orange grip. He had a special on them for like $36 if I remember correctly. Bought them at the same time so I guess it's a tie.

Saw a snap on truck at a car show quite a few years back and got curious. Walked off with a set of hard handled mini picks and a pistol grip ratcheting screwdriver. Screwdriver came with a free football. Iirc the price came to $50 or so.
I've warrantied the 45 and 90 degree picks a couple times but I still have the whole set and the screwdriver. The football ended up landing in a river so it's probably in Greenland by now.

SnapOn sae wrench set and the first orange handle screw driver set SO offered. That was in 87 a few years later I traded the screwdriver set in for the then new style handled set, still in orange. Still got the wrench set although I had to have the 3/8 and 3/4 warrantied.

I just bought my first "tool truck" tools two days ago. Snap On FC72 3/8" drive compact head ratchet, and FK80 3/8" drive stubby fixed handle ratchet. They are like tool box jewelry. I do have some Snap On and Mac tools that I bought at sales and auctions, but these are the first brand new ones I bought. I got my first tools from my dad when I was 8, and now I'm almost 38.

I actually never stepped foot on a tool truck. I bought the majority of my stuff used or on the internet. But the first item I bought from a truck (through a friend) was a used OBDII reader from a Snap On truck where my buddy works. It was $40 and well worth it. I was surprised he even sold it. The first brand new item was a Snap On cordless work light for $100. Other than repaired tools that is the extent of my tool truck experience and none of it actually done by myself. lol

I have not yet bought any truck brands off the truck, but my first truck brand purchase was from the Snap-On website and I bought an F80 ratchet. I had lost my daughter and nearly my wife from a complicated pregnancy/childbirth and wrenching in the garage and buying a few tools was one of my coping mechanisms. Since that time I've bought a few more Snap-On tools from EBay and directly from the Snap-On website even though its full price. I'd like to get to know some drivers in my area some day but I'm pretty well equipped for my needs and I'm a pilot, not a professional mechanic by trade.

Matco. Brought the big oil filter strap wrench for $30. That was about a year ago, right as I started work.

So far it's held up pretty well. Have had to put a 24" ratchet on it a few times to break loose some stupid tight filters that the last gorilla installed.

Trying to remember my exact first tools...would have been in the fall of 99, working at a dealership...walked onto the MAC truck got the Hansen organizers (Had never seen em before)...bought one every other week till I had the whole set. Also got a huge 3/8" and 1/2" Drive Filter Strap Wrench. Don't use it often, but its a lifesaver when I do need it.

Never have bought anything off a tool truck. Stepped onto a Snap On truck one time while at a friend's shop, but was just there to drool while he was making a transaction. I'm not a pro wrench, so I buy all of my stuff on ebay since I don't have access to a truck. I probably own 15+ Dual 80's and a bunch of Cornwell stuff though.
