I am sure you are joking but I have purchased 2 used torque wrenches from ebay pawn shops and rather than having them shipped to me, I had them shipped to Team Torque for testing and calibration. Once calibrated I have no concern about them performing as designed.

Yeah, I was joking but I tend to use torque wrenches for things that I think are pretty important and expensive to repair so I like to be sure they're accurate. But if you can get a good deal on a used one that doesn't look abused, plenty of people treat them quite poorly, and have it calibrated I don't see a problem with buying a used one. It seems a lot of people want too much money for used ones because they're an expensive brand. An uncalibrated Snap On is no better than an uncalibrated Craftsman. I have some click type ones but I also have the old beam type ones that I like to check the click types against. Some tool companies have lifetime warranties on the old beam style.

some air tools are fine used- deff not the 1/2 inch impact! nothin worse than 10 ft lbs less than what you need when you need it!

HELMETS! I have 6 helmets...I would never buy a used one. Of course you can change out the liner. But who knows if it even has been through a minor impact (no visible damage) and the interior foam has been compromised. I totally agree.
My list:
1. Helmets
2. Computers/laptops
3. DSLRs & L glass
4. Clothes
5. Most electronics

i only buy guns used and from private sellers ...... that way when some idiot in office outlaws them no one know i have them
Drives my wife nuts, but I have ZERO problems buying used clothes. Swap meet has a number of sellers of work shirts, Dickies, Red something, uniform brands, $1 each.
I gave serious thought to buying used oil since the shop I go to has a mostly snooty Porsche clientele that put in Kendall or some other high end brand and dump it out in 3k miles.
I've bought and sold used computers for years, but one at a time I can see risk might be too great.
Buying old cars never ceases to get me in trouble, but I like trouble.
And I am not buying used Snapon for 50%, more like 10 or 15%, unless its something I want really bad and can't find cheap.
