Just wondering what wire I need to power my compressor circuit. Looks like a 30A breaker will do, is 10/2 good for this or do I need 8? Pictures of motor data label below.

Its 5HP so you need 35a wire- NM 10/2 is too small so #8 NM or #10 in pipe.

How far away is the panel?

Unless there was some reason I absolutely had to share I would want a line for each. Top me air is a utility like water, wouldn't want to hook up a hose every time I wanted to flush.

Sounds good, I'll go with #8 then. Panel is about 20' straight line distance but will be close to 50' of wire.

From what your are saying, am I going to be ok with a 30A breaker or will I need to bump it up?

Is the panel in sight of the compressor? If not, then a disconnect is required.

You can try a 30a. It may nuisance trip. If it does you can go to 40a breaker.

I would make sure a #8 wire will fit into/under whatever terminal you have at the air compressor...if its just a pressure switch (mine is) there is no way a #8 will fit. Even #10 is a tight squeeze as I recall.
